1203 Hubbard St, Jacksonville
Springfield
A historic residential neighborhood located immediately north of Downtown, Springfield is known for its architectural heritage and was named one of "The South's Best Comeback Neighborhoods"
Experience a historic neighborhood in renaissance. An up-and-coming residential area just a mile and a half north of Downtown Jacksonville, Springfield is filled with restored old homes and local charm. Majestic oak trees line the residential streets; this neighborhood gives visitors a window into Jacksonville’s past and the city’s effort to preserve its history.
The original Springfield development dates to 1869; at one point it was the city’s wealthiest neighborhood. Currently, it is in the middle of a rebirth. In 2011, Southern Living named Springfield one of "The South's Best Comeback Neighborhoods." Take a stroll through the neighborhood and peak behind the stained glass doors and windows during the annual Springfield Tour of Homes, admire the preserved antebellum South architecture, and let loose at Porchfest, an annual neighborhood music festival hosted by Springfield Preservation and Revitalization Council (SPAR) and attended by residents all over Jacksonville.
